A fine group of galaxies showing distinct morphologies: NGC 5985 is a SAB(r)b-spiral with an active nucleus, classifying her as a Seyfert-galaxy. NGC 5982 is an elliptical galaxy (E3), which is the result of a merger of at least two galaxies. It shows tidal shells that are dynamically decoupled from the nucleus and two different populations of globular clusters. NGC 5981 is a spiral seen edge on with a fine dust-lane.
This image shows that not the sheer amount of integration-time but the local seeing is the main limiting factor.
