This complex of dark nebulae and infant stars breaking out of their dust- and gas-shrouds contains some odd filaments, reminding of waving ghosts and shouting halloween-masks.
The dark nebulae, their rims dimly reflecting the light of the surrounding stars, are part of the „Cepheus Flare Molecular Cloud“, containig several other interesting reflection-, emission- and dark nebulae. Out of a hole in the globule in the upper part of the image the light of newly formed proto-stars escapes.
Before the sequence could be finished a violent power failure - perhaps caused by lightning - damaged quite a lot of equipment in my observatory. The worst damage hit the Moravian, causing a month-long repair.
2016 I imaged the area with the QSI and the 10"-Newton:

Alignment of the optics and focusing grew worse over the weeks in this autumn. Until I could fix it I had to throw away additional 46 frames. And even now I see only flaws in this image.
