Sometimes I use the 400mm f/5 Newton (aka „The White Elephant“) to shoot an image via remote-control. Because of its sheer size it is possible to get a deep and detailed image fast. This galaxy on the border of the constellations Cepheus and Cygnus is almost hidden behind the stars of our milkyway.

This galaxy shining through the outer layers of the milkyway was exposed more detailed (with longer focal length) and with greater depth (by longer exposures of 900 and 1200 seconds) than before. Because of the smaller field of view only the galaxy could be imaged; the aesthetic pairing with the open cluster NGC 6939 in Cepheus is shown in this wide field image.
